An MX record state that the mail server is responsible for accepting email messages in support of a domain name. Domains that use over one mail server will set their Mx record priority to work out the order during which the mail servers should be used.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Note:<\/strong> If you have got a shared hosting package you&#8217;ll need to raise our support team to change MX record entries for your domain.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The following instructions are followed by other Plesk account<\/p>\n<p>1. Log in to your\u00a0<strong>Plesk\u00a0<\/strong>account.<\/p>\n<p>2. Click on\u00a0<strong>Websites &amp; Domains\u00a0<\/strong>in the left-hand panel.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-952\" src=\"https:\/\/ownwebservers.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/mxrecord-1.png\" alt=\"mxrecord-1\" width=\"215\" height=\"238\" \/><\/p>\n<p>3. In the main screen, click on and expand the section for the\u00a0<strong>domain<\/strong>\u00a0whose MX record you wish to change.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-953\" src=\"https:\/\/ownwebservers.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/mxrecord-2-300x188.png\" alt=\"mxrecord-2\" width=\"840\" height=\"527\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ownwebservers.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/mxrecord-2-300x188.png 300w, https:\/\/ownwebservers.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/mxrecord-2-768x482.png 768w, https:\/\/ownwebservers.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/mxrecord-2.png 840w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 840px) 100vw, 840px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>4. Then click on the\u00a0<strong>Hosting &amp; DNS<\/strong>\u00a0tab in the menu.<\/p>\n<p>5. Under Hosting &amp; DNS, click on\u00a0<strong>DNS Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-954\" src=\"https:\/\/ownwebservers.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/mxrecord-3-300x134.png\" alt=\"mxrecord-3\" width=\"503\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ownwebservers.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/mxrecord-3-300x134.png 300w, https:\/\/ownwebservers.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/mxrecord-3.png 503w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 503px) 100vw, 503px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>6. Under DNS Settings you will see a list of your records.\u00a0<strong>Click on the record<\/strong>\u00a0you wish to change. The\u00a0<strong>Edit the Resource Record<\/strong>\u00a0screen will then open.<\/p>\n<p>7. On the Edit the Resource Record page, click on the\u00a0<strong>Record Type<\/strong>\u00a0dropdown box and select the\u00a0<strong>MX<\/strong>\u00a0option.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-955\" src=\"https:\/\/ownwebservers.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/mxrecord-4-300x195.png\" alt=\"mxrecord-4\" width=\"526\" height=\"342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ownwebservers.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/mxrecord-4-300x195.png 300w, https:\/\/ownwebservers.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/mxrecord-4.png 526w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 526px) 100vw, 526px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>8. A new set of fields will now appear. Enter the details of your mail server (e.g. mail.example.com) in the\u00a0<strong>Name Server\u00a0<\/strong>field.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-956\" src=\"https:\/\/ownwebservers.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/mxrecord-5-300x143.png\" alt=\"mxrecord-5\" width=\"548\" height=\"262\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ownwebservers.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/mxrecord-5-300x143.png 300w, https:\/\/ownwebservers.com\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/mxrecord-5.png 548w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 548px) 100vw, 548px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>9. Click on the dropdown box at the side of\u00a0<strong>Specify the priority of the mail exchange server<\/strong>. Select the priority you wish. These range from 50 (lowest priority) to 0 (highest priority).<\/p>\n<p>10.
