Private Nameserver setup for\u00a0VPS Hosting<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0Dedicated Server<\/a><\/h2>\n

Step 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n

You will have to decide what nameservers you want to set on your\u00a0VPS \/ Dedicated Server \/ Reseller Hosting<\/strong>\u00a0Account. If you have the domain\u00a0\u201cmydomain.com\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0then you can make the\u00a0nameservers<\/strong>\u00a0ns1.domain.com<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0ns2.domain.com<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Open\u00a0http:\/\/IP\/whm<\/strong>\u00a0then go to\u00a0IP Functions >> show IP address usage<\/strong>\u00a0& Check free IP over there or choose your primary and secondary\u00a0IP Address<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

You will need to register\u00a0nameservers<\/strong>\u00a0first from registrar end. Login to your registrar\u2019s domain\u00a0control panel<\/strong>\u00a0and register the\u00a0name server<\/strong>\u00a0or ask them to register the private name server for your domain.<\/p>\n

-ns1.domain.com - the Default IP Of your server\r\n-ns2.domain.com - Secondary IP or free IP<\/pre>\n
Exception : In case if you have just one domain and you have set that name server for your other server and you want to use ns3.domain.com and ns4.domain.com name server for this server then you will have to set the dns for it from the dns zone file of domain.com if you have WHM then you can go to the server where this domain is resolving then open WHM >> Edit a DNS zone >> select domain from the list >> Edit at the end just add this line<\/p>\n
ns3 In A First_IP\r\nns4 In A Second_IP<\/pre>\n
or if you are using shell then you can simply append following lines there in<\/p>\n
# vi \/var\/named\/domain.com.db\r\nns3 IN A First_IP\r\nns4 IN A Second_IP<\/pre>\n
Save the file.<\/p>\n
# service named reload\r\n\r\n# rndc reload domain.com<\/pre>\n
Step 3:<\/strong><\/p>\n
http:\/\/IP\/whm >> Basic cPanel\/WHM Setup<\/strong><\/p>\n
Scroll down to Primary Nameserver ns1.domain.com & Click on \u201cAssign IP address<\/strong>\u201d and then \u201cAdd an A entry for this name server<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n
Similarly for Secondary Nameserver ns2.domain.com Click on \u201cAssign IP address<\/strong>\u00a0\u201d and then \u201cAdd an A entry for this name server<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n
Step 4:<\/strong><\/p>\n
Once all done you can check if your nameservers have started resolving or not from<\/p>\n
http:\/\/www.dnsstuff.com\/tools\/lookup.ch?name=ns1.domain.com&type=A<\/pre>\n
Once you see the assigned IP address there then it means that the name server for your server are set.
