cPanel File Manager<\/strong>\u00a0is a tool that enables you to manage your\u00a0files directly within cPanel without having to use FTP.\u00a0 It enables you to create, upload, modify or remove\u00a0files.<\/p>\n

Accessing File Manager<\/strong><\/h4>\n

1. Log in to your cPanel account.<\/p>\n

2. Scroll to the\u00a0Files<\/strong>\u00a0section and click on\u00a0File Manager.<\/strong><\/p>\n

3. This will open the\u00a0File Manager\u00a0<\/strong>where you will be shown a hierarchical list of your main folders. It is very similar to the file manager used in Windows<\/p>\n

4. When you first use File Manager, you should click on the\u00a0Settings\u00a0<\/strong>icon (top right corner) to specify its default settings.<\/p>\n

This allows you to select the directory which you want File Manager to open\u00a0by default. It also lets you enable the\u00a0Show Hidden Files (dotfiles)\u00a0<\/strong>option which will display the files whose name start with a dot (.), such as .htaccess.<\/p>\n

5. Click the\u00a0Save<\/strong>\u00a0button when you have made any changes.<\/p>\n

6. The tools you need to manage your files are displayed in the ribbon at the top of the\u00a0File Manager<\/strong>\u00a0page.<\/p>\n

These enable you to undertake the following actions:<\/p>\n

  • Add a new file<\/li>\n
  • Add a new folder<\/li>\n
  • Copy a file or folder<\/li>\n
  • Move a file or folder<\/li>\n
  • Upload a file or folder<\/li>\n
  • Delete a file or folder<\/li>\n
  • Restore a file or folder<\/li>\n
  • Rename a file or folder<\/li>\n
  • Edit a file<\/li>\n
  • Edit HTML<\/li>\n
  • Change permissions for a file or folder<\/li>\n
  • Extract compressed files or folders<\/li>\n
  • Compress files or folder<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    7. If you wish to make any changes to an existing file or folder, you will need to locate it in File Manager and select it, so it is highlighted, like the \u2018mail\u2019 option below..<\/p>\n
